Far too long, Black people, whose brutally forced labor turned our country into a global superpower, have been overlooked or underrepresented by the symbols representing our democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"content-wrap-item post__paragraph\">\u201cToday, members of the Senate Committee on the judiciary took a step toward equitable representation, and inclusive democracy, with the advancement of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson\u2019s nomination to the Supreme Court of the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"content-wrap-item post__paragraph\">\u201cIn the more than 200-year history of the Court, Judge Jackson stands out as an eminently qualified jurist. Judge Jackson, a daughter of educators, who rose from the segregated Jim Crow South to numerous personal and professional accomplishments, has served at the highest levels of the federal legal system and has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate on three occasions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"content-wrap-item post__paragraph\">\u201cNFHA believes Judge Jackson can bring a fair and informed perspective to the Court. Representation matters, and we are confident Judge Jackson\u2019s presence on the Court will have a profound impact on further producing an equitable system of justice that dispenses equal justice under the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"content-wrap-item post__paragraph\">\u201cIn the coming days, the full U.S. Senate will consider Judge Jackson\u2019s nomination, and we call on each Senator to vote in favor of a jurist who represents the absolute best of our democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"content-wrap-item post__paragraph\">###<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"content-wrap-item post__paragraph\"><strong><em>The National Fair Housing Alliance (NFHA)<\/em><\/strong><em> is the country\u2019s only national civil rights organization dedicated solely to eliminating all forms of housing and lending discrimination and ensuring equal opportunities for all people.
