This is an historic moment for the country and, because representation matters, an exciting day for Black women and girls. Judge Jackson, a highly esteemed, Harvard graduate, who is currently serving on the powerful DC Circuit Court of Appeals, would be the first Black woman Supreme Court Justice if confirmed. She is exceptionally qualified and has the experience, character, integrity, and dedication to the Constitution and rule of law to serve on the nation\u2019s highest court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"content-wrap-item post__paragraph\">\u201cJudge Jackson\u2019s background and experience is a true American success story. She comes from a family of police officers, clerked for Justice Breyer, worked as a public defender, and served on the bipartisan U.S. Sentencing Commission prior to serving as a judge on the District Court and the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. In each of these instances, Judge Jackson received bipartisan Senate support in her confirmation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"content-wrap-item post__paragraph\">\u201cThis moment is historic and transformational. Judge Jackson\u2019s credentials are stellar. Her expertise on the Supreme Court will offer a lens grounded in decades of skillful lawyering and judicial experience. In the decades ahead, the laws that govern and protect Americans from unjust practices like housing discrimination and algorithmic bias will undoubtedly be tested in our highest court. It is imperative we have a Justice with the knowledge and mastery of law to handle critical issues that impact millions of people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"content-wrap-item post__paragraph\">\u201cWe applaud President Biden\u2019s nomination of Judge Jackson to the Supreme Court and look forward to the Senate swiftly moving to confirm her with bipartisan support.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"content-wrap-item post__paragraph\">###<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"content-wrap-item post__paragraph\"><strong><em>The National Fair Housing Alliance (NFHA)<\/em><\/strong><em> is the country\u2019s only national civil rights organization dedicated solely to eliminating all forms of housing and lending discrimination and ensuring equal opportunities for all people.
